Social media marketing for businesses, outsourced
At Formi, social media marketing for businesses means we handle the whole of your social media for you: content, channel management, publishing, paid advertising and reporting. In practice, we operate as an outsourced marketing team. The price is built around the amount of content, the channels and the media budget, and our clients' content gathers around 7 million views a month.
What social media marketing for a business actually is
Social media marketing is continuous work, not a one-off campaign. It consists of four parts, all of which are needed:
- Content. Videos, photos and Stories material, published regularly.
- Channel management. Publishing, a publishing calendar and keeping the channels alive.
- Paid advertising. Scaling content that works organically with a media budget.
- Measurement. A monthly analysis and the changes made based on it.
The single biggest reason a company's social media produces nothing is that three of these four are missing. Content is made sporadically, publishing is forgotten, there's no advertising and nobody looks at the results.
An outsourced marketing team or an in-house creator
This is really the only question that matters, and the answer depends on volume.
| In-house social media manager | Outsourced team | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | salary + employer costs + equipment | monthly price based on the amount of content |
| Skill set | one person, one skill level | shooting, editing, advertising, analytics |
| Sick leave and holidays | production stops | production continues |
| Scaling | a new hire | increase the amount of content by agreement |
| Brand knowledge | very good | built up during the partnership |
An in-house creator is better if content is needed daily and the brand is very complex. Outsourcing is better if you want professional-level production without recruiting and without anyone on your own team having to run shoots.
What social media marketing costs
The monthly price is made up of three parts: content production, channel management and paid advertising management. Content production is the largest of these, and it behaves according to volume. A couple of videos a month is effectively a one-off purchase. With ten videos a month, one shoot day is enough, and the price per video ends up clearly below a one-off purchase. At a pace of sixteen videos, the shoots are usually split over two days, which brings the per-video price down further. With us, the price is built around the amount of content, the channels and the media budget.
The media budget for paid advertising is always a separate cost, paid directly to the ad platform, and a realistic minimum is around €1,000 a month. The management fee is agreed based on the media budget and the overall scope. For comparison: a freelancer typically invoices €200–500 per video, and a full-time in-house social media manager costs around €3,500–5,000 a month including employer costs, and one person can't cover shooting, editing, ad optimisation and analytics all at once. We'll go through the exact monthly price in the meeting, once we know how many videos are needed and for which channels.
How we start
The process has five stages and runs the same way with every client:
- Setting the direction. What we're aiming for and how it's measured.
- Content and channel management. Production starts and publishing gets rolling.
- Testing and optimisation. We cut what doesn't work.
- Paid distribution. Content that works is scaled with budget.
- Reporting and next steps. A monthly report and decisions for the next month.
Who the service is for
The service suits companies that want content that works, delivered regularly, without their own team having to run production. Our typical client is a consumer brand with over €1 million in revenue and a product that looks good on video.
We're not the right partner if you're looking for the cheapest possible content production or if you expect results without continuity.
